Privacy notice

How we look after the details you give us.

The TradeNearby websites (tradenearby.co.uk and the [trade]nearby.co.uk sites linked from it) are run by Martin Colman, trading as MJC, in the United Kingdom.

What we collect

If you register or claim a business we store the business name, your name and email, the trade, the postcode, and any phone number, website or other details you give us. We also store the page you came from and your country, and a one-way scrambled version of your IP address to stop spam. We do not store your IP address itself.

Why

To add your business to the directory, check that you own or manage it, and contact you about your listing. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Businesses listed from public sources

To help customers find local businesses, we list businesses using public business information: OpenStreetMap, Companies House and businesses' own websites. We show only business details such as the business name, area, phone number and website. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: helping people find local services, and helping those businesses get found. Any business can claim its listing or have it removed at any time using the link on the listing, or by emailing us.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not use cookies or track you across other websites. We also keep a simple count of page views per site.

Who sees it

Your details are stored with Cloudflare and are not sold or shared with anyone else.

How long

We keep registration and claim details while your listing is active, and for no more than 12 months after it's removed or after your last contact with us. Removed listings are kept only as a short record so they aren't added back.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, or unsubscribe, by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
